There are many ways to improve a shot, but most of the time, I feel that simple pictures with single main subject or single idea makes it a good one.
Keeping It Simple Stupid is actually difficult especially when you see more than one interesting subject and you want to combine them.
“This is rubbish,” my colleague said looking at the image I had filmed in London.
“Well, the sun was strong,” I made a quick excuse while my heart beat fast.
It’s too easy to spot a mistake on the screen.
“You’ve been operating camera for three years and you didn’t know that?”
An older cameraman looked at me in disbelief while we were having dinner together in a restaurant. My heart was beating fast in embarrassment. I couldn’t look at him in the eye. Why didn’t I know this basic thing? I went back to the hotel after dinner and I reflected on the way I had handled my camera career so far.
